It's really gearing up to be the season's blockbuster what with malls allocating multiple cinemas to its screening. And since it came out there's been a lot of feedback pouring in about it; most of them are raves. I do hope the editorial board don't mind my re-post coz I wanna share an alternative view on the movie of the season. Personally, I felt like it was a big pppffffffffffffffffttttttttttttttt. Like most people I was REALLY looking forward to seeing it. I didn't read any literature about the story so I won't be prejudiced when I see the movie. But STILL, it failed to WOW me. I am amazed at how the Pinoy gay lingo evolves. I observed that the language is almost 80% dependent on current events and pop culture so a revision is required every six months – at least. I meant to write a review the film, but during my research I was more interested with its lead star – Marco Morales. I googled him and boy was I overwhelmed with the throng of blog articles (and pictures) about him. Who is he? A friend told me that he was once a part of GMA-7’s Sunday afternoon show SOP and was a singer and a member of a boy group SOP Showboyz. So is he a singer? Not quite. I checked his filmography – not much there – and I noticed that he has appeared prominently in three films - “Booking”, “Butas”, and “Walang Kawala.” All three films are independently produced and let’s be frank about this, they all sell sex. After doing the Gay for Pay episode, Tyra Banks brings in the controversy once more and featured homophobic homosexuals on the show. Yes, she invited openly gay individuals to talk about their likewise very open disgust on homosexuality. Confusing, yes I know, but very real. Not only on Tyra but even here in the Philippines. Noong ako’y nakatira pa sa city, puro lantarang bading ang mga barkada ko. Tuwing December, ginagawa namin ang isang party— kasama na dito ang “Madamdaming Gabi ng Parangal” kung saan binibigyan ng award ang mga baklang nagbigay ng “pinakamahusay na pagganap” bilang pangunahin at pangawalang artista.
